General Info
Club TKD's Master Yoo began practicing Tae Kwon Do over thirty years ago, as a seven-year old in Seoul, Korea. Master Yoo spent a decade teaching Tae Kwon Do in various studios before opening Club TKD in 2004. He says Tae Kwon Do has many benefits - from physical to support self-esteem and discipline for people of all ages. "The physical workout includes strength, kicking, rolling, balance, running, and cardio," he says. For kids, Tae Kwon Do helps to develop confidence, goal setting, courtesy, and ability to practice self-defense. Club TKD''students range from 4 to adult and students can progress through 12 different belts. Master Yoo says mastery of each level typically takes three months. While classes are offered every day, the studio usually recommends three times a week. Students sign up monthly and may come as many times a week as they prefer. At the studio, classes range from beginner and intermediate to advanced, which encompasses three degree of black belt, which train together. For students who begin at white belts, the process typically takes about three to four years. Adult classes are offered four days a week; all levels of adult students train together.
In Addition to classes, Club TKD offer summer camps. The studio also offers a popular after school Martial Arts program. Students range form kindergarten through 8th grade. At the club, they practice Tae Kwon Do, rotating through different levels of classes. Master Yoo says, "No matter where kids go to practice martial arts, it's important that they like both the studio and teacher. With the right fit, kids will learn something great if they're at the right studio."
